Conny Koenderink

About Me

My name is Cornelia (“Conny”) Koenderink, originally from Southern Germany, where I grew up in a three-generation household, people, their behaviours, and their histories, have fascinated me from a young age onwards.

This curiosity together with a strong sense of fairness, people orientation and wish to contribute to society, made me join the German federal criminal police, where I served as a sworn detective for the next 25 years, nationally
and internationally.

Therapy is often likened to detective work.

Counselling and psychotherapy, felt like a natural progression and calling for me, when my family moved to Australia in 2010. I love what I do and am passionate about helping people to feel a greater connection with all parts of themselves, which can’t but influence the connection they have with others and the world around them, and hopefully spark more wellbeing and joy in all areas of their life.

Education and Qualifications

I am registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation Australia (PACFA) as a certified practicing counsellor (no. 30071) and am guided by their Code of Ethics.
I have trained in different modalities, and hold a master’s degree in counselling, as well as several other qualifications. Continuous investment in my professional development satisfies my sense of curiosity, need for growth, and strive for excellence. Please ask, if you would like to know more.
With a sound understanding of domestic and family violence, trauma and comorbid conditions, suicide prevention and postvention, my therapy is person-centred and trauma informed. I consider people’s biopsychosocial and spiritual backgrounds, relational and attachment styles, and other possible complexities.

For me it is important to apply a systemic view and to consider all parts that make us people the unique beings we are. We do not exist in a vacuum. We adopt many roles and are part of many systems.

We are relational beings

and I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important predictor of therapeutic success, no matter what modality is used. As C.G. Jung said:” We don’t get wounded alone and we don’t heal alone.”
